Game Preview: Rattlers Face Oilers for First-Ever Matchup

PHOENIX - The Arizona Rattlers are on the road for a second straight week, this time as they travel to Tulsa to take on the Oilers for the first time in franchise history. Coming off last week's tough loss to the Frisco Fighters, the Arizona Rattlers are aiming for a bounce-back win against this Tulsa squad.

This week's game in Tulsa, Oklahoma will take place at 5 pm local time (AZ) on Saturday, April 29 at the BOK Center. After this week, the Rattlers will enter a bye week before their next game which will take place in Vegas against the Knight Hawks.

Last Week

Last week, the Rattlers fell to the Frisco Fighters 52-42. Although it ended in a loss, this game featured some outstanding individual performances. This includes 250 passing yards from QB Jorge Reyna passing for six touchdowns, and 136 receiving yards from Isaiah Huston with four touchdowns, one of the best games of his Rattlers career. On the defensive side of the ball, Dillion Winfrey ended up with nine tackles, while Saleem Brightwell and Simeon Gatling each recorded 7 tackles, displaying activity in the backfield.

Welcome to the IFL

This weekend's matchup will be the first matchup between the storied Arizona Rattlers and the Tulsa Oilers who are in their first season in the IFL. The Oilers are coming into this matchup after their franchise's first-ever victory, last week against the Iowa Barnstormers. The Oilers are led by head coach Marvin Jones and on the field by Vincent Espinonza. The Rattlers look to start the all-time series off against Tulsa with a victory to improve to 3-3 on the season.

Octane Offense

The Arizona Rattlers offense led by QB Jorge Reyna is currently ranked as one of the top offenses in the IFL. They currently rank second in total offensive yards(1125), passing yards(875), and passing touchdowns(19). This high-ranked offense comes in the midst of many offensive injuries including three-time MVP Drew Powell and All-IFL First Team Receiver Braxton Haley.

The Rattlers' defense will need to step up, as they currently rank 10th in the IFL in points allowed per game at 48.2. Getting stops will be the key to this one, as we know the Rattlers will be able to put points up.

Huston, We Have A Problem

The Arizona Rattlers have faced some unfortunate injuries this season including WR Braxton Haley. The Rattlers receiving core wasted no time trying to fill that hole. This is most shown by WR Isaiah Huston who in the past two games has totaled 175 receiving yards and 5 touchdowns. He also currently holds the longest reception in the IFL this season (48 yards). The Reyna-Huston connection will be a duo to watch in this one.
