Vegas Hosts Northern Arizona in Week Seven Matchup

April 28, 2023 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Northern Arizona Wranglers News Release

The Northern Arizona Wranglers head on the road, for the second time this season, to take on the Vegas Knight Hawks.

The Wranglers are coming off a short week, and a lopsided loss to the Bay Area Panthers on the road. The Wranglers are facing off against the Knight Hawks for the second time this season, as both teams hold a 2-2 record on the season. In the first meeting between these two teams, the Wranglers reigned victorious, in an intense game that went down to the wire. Northern Arizona won their first game of the season, against Vegas at home, by a score of 48-42.

In the weeks since that meeting, both teams have each won, and lost, one game apiece. The Wranglers and Knight Hawks appear to be evenly matched, as evidenced by the score in their last game. Over the last two seasons, Northern Arizona has won three of the four matchups with Vegas. The Wranglers will be looking to get back in the win column on Friday night, at The Dollar Loan Center in Henderson, Nev. A short week for the Wranglers could be a challenge, but it also presents a good opportunity for the team to bounce back and put the loss to Bay Area behind them quickly.

The Wranglers will need to play better in every phase of the game to come out on top of the Knight Hawks. Prior to last Sunday's game, Northern Arizona was riding high and, playing very well on both sides of the ball. Less than two weeks ago, the Wranglers set two franchise records against the San Diego Strike Force. The Wranglers defense managed to allow their lowest total points scored against them in team history (nine), and the team recorded their largest margin of victory ever (39 points). Rookie quarterback Garrett Kettle was finding his stride as a passer, and the defense was starting to play tough as a unit. The Wranglers will face a talented Knight Hawks team with the likes of quarterback Daquan Neal and wide receiver Quentin Randolph. The Wranglers will be ready to rise to the challenge, on a short week, and the game may go down to the wire, just like the last time these two teams met.
