Yakima Valley Pippins News Release

YAKIMA, Wash. - The Yakima Valley Pippins extended their winning streak to four games following an 8-2 win over the Kitsap BlueJackets Friday night at County Stadium.

A crowd of 1,057 watched the BlueJackets (8-7) strike early, with an RBI double from Austin Bush in the top of the 1 st to take a 1-0 lead against Pippins starter Eli Morgan.

Kitsap added another run in the 3 rd inning on Matt Jackson's RBI single, the last allowed by Morgan in six innings of work.

The Pippins (13-8 overall, 10-6 West Coast League) drew even with the BlueJackets in the bottom of the 3 rd, thanks to an RBI single from Jake Roberts and a bases-loaded walk from Vince Fernandez against Kitsap starter Matt Narahara.

After a quiet 4 th inning, the Pippins got to Narahara and blew the game open in the 5 th. The Pippins got the first six men on and scored six times in the frame, including an RBI double from Mitch Skaggs and a two-run single off the bat of Nick Kern. It was the second time in eight days the Pippins scored six runs in the 5 th, doing the same thing last Thursday against the Northwest Honkers.

The six-run advantage was more than enough for Morgan on the mound, as he settled in well over his final few innings of work. Morgan only allowed one of the final 15 hitters he faced to reach base, and did not surrender a hit after Jackson's RBI single in the 3 rd. Kenny Rosenberg and Connor Lau combined to work the final three innings for Morgan, who left after 6 innings, 7 hits, 2 runs, 2 walks and 4 strikeouts to improve to 3-0 on the season, tied with Brandon Williams and five other pitchers for most wins in the West Coast League.

At the plate, JC Snyder led the way, going 3-4 with a walk and a run scored. Nick Kern and Jake Roberts each contributed two hits and two RBI in Friday's ball game.

The Pippins, winners of four straight and nine of their last 11 games, take on the BlueJackets again Saturday in the middle game of the three-game series at 7:05 p.m.
