Rogues Win in Extras

Medford Rogues News Release

MEDFORD, OR - Coming off back to back losses to bitter rivals the Klamath Falls Gems earlier this week, it seemed like the Medford Rogues were destined for more misery Thursday night. The Rogues struggled to find their feet all night as they squeaked out a 6-5 win over the visiting Athletes In Motion tonight at Harry and David Field. It was a non-league contest meaning the Rogues still hold a 10-5 record in league play and are still in first place in the WCL South.

The Rogues jumped to a quick 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first but it was the only time the Rogues led until the end. The visiting Athletes In Motion scored four in the top of the third to stun the Rogues and go up 4-2. The Rogues came within touching distance after a hit by Tucker Campbell brought home center fielder Forrest Garcia for the Rogues to leave the score at 4-3 at the bottom of the third before the Rogues drew level in the fifth.

It stayed an even 4-4 all the way until the top of ninth when Athletes scored after an error by the Rogues right fielder Jeremy Goldenetz allowed Parker Woodley to score and put the visitors up 5-4. The Rogues needed Ryan Teel to tie the game up at 5-5 bottom of the ninth to send the game to extra innings. In extra innings, it was Rogues second baseman Blaine Tanner who came home to give the Rogues the 6-5 win on a single to right field by DH Nathan Etheridge to end the game.

On the mound, Rogues started with Toby Woods as he pitched just over two innings for three strikeouts, seven walks, and four runs. Woods was replaced by Dylan Ramage who also had three strikeouts for the night. Ashland's own Christian Morrison replaced Ramage in the fifth before Tyler Bennett came in to close the game out.

The Rogues jump back into league play with three straight road games against rivals Klamath Falls Gems at Kiger Stadium. The Rogues are looking to avenge the two losses they suffered at the hands of the Gems earlier this week. The next home game for the Rogues will be on July 3 at 6:35p.m. against the NW Star Academy with a firework display after the game.
