DURHAM, NC - The Durham Bulls turned in a complete effort, winning a critical game for their playoff hopes over the Gwinnett Stripers 3-0 Saturday night at the DBAP. Ricardo Pinto (10-5) recorded the victory for the Bulls, while Ian Anderson (1-2) suffered the loss for the Stripers.

After scoring runs in the second and sixth innings a night ago, the Bulls followed a similar path in this game. Michael Perez gave the Bulls an early lead with a solo blast in the second inning to make it 1-0. The Bulls pitching staff was able to maintain the lead, and Nate Lowe provided insurance with a two-run homer to right-center field to extend the lead to 3-0 in the sixth.

The Bulls pitching staff turned in a sterling performance in support of their offense. Cole Sulser was the opener and threw two shutout innings, before turning the ball over to Pinto who tossed 5.1 frames, struck out eight and scattered eight hits. Hoby Milner locked down his 10th save of the campaign, registering the final five outs. The trio combined to punch out 12 batters compared to just one walk.

The Bulls and Stripers will meet in the rubber match of the three-game series on Sunday night at 5:05 at the DBAP. Right-hander Sam McWilliams will take the mound for the Bulls and will face off against Stripers right-hander Kyle Wright.
