MIDLAND, TEXAS - The Frisco RoughRiders are proud to announce that Carlos Pimentel has been named Texas League Pitcher of the Week for the week of June 3-9. It is the right-hander's second such honor this season, previously winning the award for the week of May 20-26.

The RoughRiders starter rebounded from his two worst outings of the season this past week with a seven shutout innings on June 8 in Midland. Nearly identical to the outing that garnered him the Pitcher of the Week award in May, Pimentel allowed just one hit and issued two walks. On Saturday, he struck out six RockHounds and retired 12 of the final 14 batters faced. Only Anthony Aliotti, the league's leading hitter, picked up a hit against him, and it came in the first inning. He tossed 6.1 hitless innings following the single. Over his two seven inning one-hit performances this season, only Aliotti and Springfield's Mike O'Neill, the top two hitters in terms of batting average and on-base percentage in the league, have collected hits off Pimentel.

Pimentel is the only RoughRiders pitcher to win the honor this season, and now he has captured it twice.

Despite consecutive starts in which Pimentel went less than six innings, gave up at least six hits and three earned runs in both starts, he still ranks among the league leaders and Texas Rangers farmhands in a number of categories. He is seventh in the Texas League in ERA (2.96). He is first in all of Double-A and in the Rangers minor league system with 80 strikeouts. His WHIP (1.00) trails only two pitchers in the Texas League, and his opponents' batting average (.196) against and strikeouts per nine innings as a starter (10.43) trail only his teammate Neil Ramirez among active Texas Leaguers.

Frisco has now tied its total of Texas League Pitcher of the Week awards won in 2012. Nick Tepesch and Cody Buckel both won Texas League Pitcher of the Week in the second half of 2012.

The RoughRiders play game three of their series with the Midland RockHounds on Monday night in Midland at 6:30 p.m. at Citibank Ballpark. Neil Ramirez (6-2, 3.38 ERA) will be making the start for the RoughRiders; he trails Pimentel by just two strikeouts for the league lead.
