Pillsbury dominant in Otters win
June 14, 2005 - Frontier League (FL)
Evansville Otters News Release
Chris Pillsbury notched his first in an Evansville Otters uniform, pitching his first professional complete game shutout as the Otters beat the Windy City ThunderBolts 8-0.
The Otters got on the board in the first for the fourth straight game as a Juan Downing sacrifice fly to score Steve Martin. Evansville got their biggest hit of the ballgame when Ricky Clinton delivered a two-out RBI double in the second to put the Otters up 3-0.
After adding a run in the fifth, Evansville put the game to rest in the eighth when the scored four off of reliever Charlie Hahn. The big shot in that inning was a bases clearing double off the bat of Cole Hilt.
The night belonged to Pillsbury, however, as the Orange Park, FL native allowed just two hits, walking four and striking out five. It was a banner night for Pillsbury (1-2) who had never gone more than six innings in a game in his pro career. Josh Glynn (1-2) took the loss for the ThunderBolts.
With the Otters now having won four of five, they will continue the series tomorrow as Ben Foster (1-1) takes the mound for Evansville against Chris Reilly (1-0) for Windy City.
Tomorrow's game is a Nick's Winning Wings Wednesday. Otters players will be eating lunch at both Nick's locations (Northside on 1st Ave and Eastside on Morgan) from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. If the Otters win, every fan in attendance will receive a coupon for 10 free wings with the purchase of a large pizza. Game time starts at 7:05 p.m.
