BINGHAMTON, NY - The Binghamton Mets got seven quality innings from Tyler Pill and came alive late to take down the Richmond Flying Squirrels, 9-6, on Monday night at The Diamond. Pill didn't allow a run and struck out seven for his second win of the year over Richmond. Brian Burgamy went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI.

Binghamton jumped on Richmond starter Adalberto Mejia early. Dilson Herrera doubled down the left-field line with one out in the first. Burgamy answered with a single to center field to make the score 1-0, Binghamton.

The B-Mets added to that total in the fifth. Wilfredo Tovar started things with a lead off double. With two outs, Mejia left the game in favor of Jose Casilla. He gave up a single to Herrera to plate Tovar. The next batter, Burgamy, hammered his 20th home run of the season to right field to extend the lead to 4-0.

The runs kept coming in the seventh against Carlos Alvarado. Burgamy worked a two-out walk and advanced to third on a Lawley bloop single down the right-field line. Darrell Ceciliani then singled to bring home a run put the road team ahead, 5-0.

The game turned into a rout in the eighth. Juan Centeno started the inning with a walk and moved to third on a Tovar double. T.J. Rivera pinch hit for Pill and grounded out to second to plate a run and move Tovar to third. After a Kyle Johnson walk, Daniel Slania came in to relieve Alvarado. The first batter he faced was Herrera, who reached on an error by the third baseman, Mario Lisson. Tovar scored on the play and Johnson moved to third. Burgamy came to the plate and hit a high-fly ball to center field that scored Johnson and advanced Herrera to second base. Dustin Lawley singled to score Herrera and put Binghamton up 9-0.

Richmond finally got on the board in the bottom of the frame. Randy Fontanez walked the first two batters he faced. Lisson then doubled to plate the first Flying Squirrel run of the game. Angel Villalona grounded out to third, but a run scored on the play and Lisson moved to third. After a line out, Devin Harris singled to bring the runner home and cut the deficit to 9-3.

The Flying Squirrels got three more runs in the ninth against Ryan Fraser. With runners on first and second and two outs, Lisson hit a three-run home run to center field to make the score 9-6. He finished the game with four RBI.

Pill (7-5) hasn't allowed a run in 15 innings against Richmond this season. Mejia (5-7) went 4-2/3 innings and allowed two runs. Fontanez and Fraser each surrendered three runs in an inning of work.

The B-Mets (68-47) play game two of this three-game set against the Flying Squirrels on Tuesday at 7:05 PM. RHP Greg Peavey toes the rubber for Binghamton, while RHP Chris Stratton takes the mound for Richmond. POSTGAME NOTES: Ceciliani extended his hitting streak to seven games...Pill hasn't lost in his last 14 appearances with Binghamton...It was Burgamy's fourth four-RBI game of the year.
