Winston-Salem Dash News Release

WINSTON-SALEM, NC (APRIL 16, 2010) - The Winston-Salem Dash today placed catcher Josh Phegley on the disabled list. He will be replaced on the roster by infielder Jeffrey Tezak, who was promoted from low-A Kannapolis.

Phegley was hitting .259 with a double and one RBI in six games prior to being placed on the D.L. He becomes the third player in the last two days that Winston-Salem has put on the D.L, following Logan Johnson (Thursday) and Leroy Hunt (earlier today).

Tezak was batting .333 (2 for 6) with a run scored and an RBI in three games with Kannapolis before his promotion to Winston-Salem. He was the White Sox' 24th round selection in the 2009 First-Year Player Draft. Tezak made his professional debut last year with the Great Falls Voyagers, hitting .280 with no homers, three doubles, a triple, and 23 RBI in 56 games.

Tezak played his college ball at Cal State-Northridge and Palomar College before attending the University of Nebraska. In his senior season with the Cornhuskers, Tezak hit .315 with two homers and 28 RBI while leading Nebraska in walks (30) and on-base percentage (.425). He showed excellent plate discipline, striking out just 16 times in 178 at bats in 2009.

In 2008, Tezak missed all but seven games after undergoing knee surgery. He earned Second-Team All-Big 12 honors in 2007 after posting a .335 batting average with three home runs and 37 RBI.

The Dash roster remains at 24 players, one below the Carolina League limit.

Winston-Salem begins a three-game series with the Kinston Indians tonight at BB&T Ballpark. LHP Charlie Leesman (0-1, 3.00) makes his second start for the Dash against Kinston's Alex White (1-0, 0.00).
