Tribe Talk.
Hitting Hex- The final two games of the Wilmington series were the worst of the season for the K-Tribe's already-struggling bats. Kinston could only muster a season-low two hits in each game, and scored a single run on Tuesday before suffering their first shutout of the season on Wednesday afternoon. Blue Rocks pitching combined to strike out 31 Indians hitters in the two games. Kinston is now hitting a Carolina League-worst .200
Pitching Prowess - While the bats have struggled, the K-Tribe's pitching staff has been strong and leads the Carolina League with a team ERA of 1.86. Kinston pitching is holding opposing hitters to a .220 batting average, which ranks third-best in the league and teams are hitting just .162 against the K-Tribe with runners on base.
"K"-Tribe, Literally - Kinston has been quite fond of K's this season, as Indians pitching has struck out a league-leading 76 batters in 63 innings, while K-Tribe hitters have struck out 71 times, second-worst in the league
Left in the Dust - The Indians hitters have stumbled against all pitching, but especially when facing lefthanders. Kinston is hitting just .143 against lefties, and has a record of 1-2 when going up against a left-handed starter. On the flip side, Kinston hits .228 vs. right-handers and has a 2-2 record against righty starters.
O-No- Kinston has two position players that are still hitless on the season, infielders Cristo Arnal (0-for-13) and Roman Pena (0-for 12). Meanwhile, Abner Abreu is hitless in his last 9 at-bats, and Lucas Montero has struck out in 7 of his last 8 at-bats (0-for 8).
Give Me a Second- The K-Tribe has won all three games in which they have scored more than one run. In their losses, they have scored 1, 1, 1, and 0 runs.
