LINCOLN, Neb. - The Sioux Falls Pheasants were held to just three hits Thursday night in a 7-3 defeat as the Lincoln Saltdogs swept a three-game series. The Saltdogs climbed to one game behind the first-place Pheasants.

Trailing 1-0, Lincoln loaded the bases in the third inning and rallied for four runs. Phil Hawke drove in the go-ahead run with an RBI single to center field. The Pheasants responded by loading the bases with no outs in the fourth, but they mustered only one run on a double-play groundout from Trevor Lawhorn.

Pheasants slugger Beau Torbert pulled the Pheasants to within a run with a mountainous solo home run to left field, cutting the lead to 4-3. It was his 11th long ball of the year.

The Saltdogs tacked on three runs in the sixth inning with back-to-back home runs from Shawn McGill and Chris Brown. Pheasants starter Ryan Rodriguez (4-2) was then pulled from the game and took the loss. He allowed all seven runs on 12 hits while walking two and striking out no one.

Tim Brown (5-3) earned the win by limiting the Pheasants to two earned runs in eight innings pitched. He struck out five and walked just two. He retired the last seven batters faced before reliever Nolan Chestnut pitched a perfect ninth.

The Pheasants return home Friday for a six-game homestand, beginning with a three-game series with the Ft. Worth Cats. Game one is at 7:05 p.m. It's a Fantastic Fireworks Friday, sponsored by Sanford Health and KELO-TV.
