Lincoln 7, Sioux Falls 3
Trailing 1-0 entering the third inning, Lincoln plated four runs to go up 4-1 and they never trailed from there en route to a 7-3 win over Sioux Falls. Saltdogs starting pitcher Tim Brown allowed three runs, two earned, on four hits while striking out five in eight strong innings to earn his fifth win of the season. C Shawn McGill and 2B Chris Brown each homered for Lincoln. The pair combined to go 4-for-7 and scored three runs and drove in three. Saltdogs 3B Juan Richardson also had a productive night at the plate. He was 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI.
El Paso at Shreveport-Bossier (Postponed - Rain)
The game between El Paso and Shreveport-Bossier was postponed due to rain. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Friday, June 25 beginning at 6:05 PM.
Grand Prairie 9, Pensacola 5
Already leading 4-0, Grand Prairie scored five runs in the top of the sixth to take a commanding 9-0 lead and held on to top Pensacola on the road. AirHogs starting pitcher Luke Prihoda allowed three runs on seven hits while striking out three in six innings to earn the win and improve to 3-3 on the season. 1B Greg Porter led the way at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI. Pensacola DH John Alonso was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and three RBI in the losing effort.
Fort Worth 3, Wichita 1 (10 innings)
Fort Worth starting pitcher Colin Allen locked horns with Wichita starter Luke Massetti in a pitcher's duel with each allowing just a run, but neither factoring in the decision. Allen went eight innings and scattered five hits, while Massetti went seven and allowed eight hits. Each surrendered one run. Cats 1B John Allen only had one hit in the contest, but it proved to be the difference. With no one out in the top of the 10th inning, he hit a two-run home run to give Fort Worth the lead for good.
St. Paul 5, Sioux City 4
By the end of the top of the seventh inning, St. Paul held a 5-0 lead, but they almost watched it slip away before wiggling out of a jam in the ninth and coming away with a narrow win. St. Paul starting pitcher Jacob Schmidt allowed one earned run on four hits while striking out eight in 7.1 innings to earn the win and improve to 4-3 on the season. 1B Jason Cooper was the star offensively for St. Paul. He was 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored and a pair of RBI. Saints reliever Joe D'Alessandro retired the final two batters in the contest to earn his first save.
