Lincoln Saltdogs News Release
SIOUX FALLS, SD - The Lincoln Saltdogs dropped their first postseason game of 2010 on Tuesday, losing 2-1 at Sioux Falls. Lincoln trails 1-0 in the best-of-five division series.
Lincoln's Jim Paduch (0-1) and Ben Moore of Sioux Falls put on a great pitchers' duel, with the game staying scoreless through the first five innings. Paduch struck out eight over seven innings, while Moore struck out ten. The Saltdogs took a 1-0 lead in the sixth inning on a solo home run by Albenis Machado, but the Pheasants tied it in the seventh on three walks and a sacrifice fly. Paduch stayed in the game to start the bottom of the eighth inning, but Beau Torbert hit the first pitch of the frame out for a home run that proved to be the game-winner.
Machado, now playing in his third postseason for Lincoln, hit his first playoff home run as a member of the Saltdogs. No Lincoln batter had more than one hit, as the 'Dogs managed just six hits overall.
Game two of the best-of-five series takes place Wednesday night at 7:05. Right-hander John James is scheduled to make the start for the Saltdogs.
