PETERSBURG V.A. (July 15, 2011)- The action took until the bottom of the eighth inning, but the first runs of the game scored on a suicide squeeze. Garrett Davis (L, 0-1) took the loss after starting the eighth inning and only recording one out. He left with runners on second and third base. Chad Girodo entered the game for Wilson and faced Michael Gonzales with one out. On the three two pitch Gonzalez laid down a successful suicide squeeze making the score 1-0. Girodo tried to flip the ball to Tobs catcher Brian Holberton and the ball got away, Tony Montelbano scored all the way from second base, making the score 2-0. Lance Honeycutt entered the game and was quickly greeted with a RBI single by Tyler McCarthy scoring Gonzalez and the Generals lead 3-0 going to the ninth.

Tobs starter Brice Rivenbark allowed only two hits with two walks and seven strikeouts through 5 innings of play. The Generals starter Rick Teasley was removed from the game after only 4&2/3 innings pitched. Teasley only gave up 1 hit allowing three walks and fanning four Tobs batters. The only hit of the game for the Tobs to this point was a double by Keith Morrisroe that lead off the game.

The Generals threatened in the bottom of the sixth. With two outs and no one on base, Tony Montalbano laced a double to right field. Corbin Shive was the batter with two outs in a scoreless game. On the two-two pitch of the at-bat Shive hit a fly ball to deep center field, Jeff Bouton for the Tobs raced back and made the catch. Rivenbark pumped his fist after leaving the mound to end the sixth inning as the game remained tied at 0.

In the bottom of the seventh the Generals threatened again. After the first out was recorded, Tyler McCarthy was hit by a pitch and then Jack Cleary was safe on an error by Tobs 2nd basemen Zac Mitchell. McCarthy and Clearly then both stole the base in front of them. With 1 out, Petersburg had runners at second and third base Brandon Scott popped up to Rivenbark. Nick McQuail was the next hitter and a pitch hit him, the second of the inning, and that loaded the bases for Justin Albright. Albright hit the third pitch of the inning to centerfield and Bouton was there for Wilson to record the out. The Tobs escaped with the score still tied at zero going to the eighth inning. Rivenbark finished the game pitching seven innings allowing just three base hits two walks and nine strikeouts. Rivenbark did not factor in the decision.

The Tobs went quietly in the eighth and that set the table for Petersburg.

The winning pitcher was Daniel Patrick improves his record to 1-1. Patrick pitched 3 and 2 thirds innings not allowing a hit, only allowing 1 walk, hit one batter and struck out five Tobs. The Tobs had just the one hit, Keith Morrisroe's double, which lead off the game.
