Perez Claims Franchise RBI Record, Leading Revs' 13-5 Battering of Bluefish

Andres Perez enjoyed another huge night as did the York Revolution offense with a 13-5 victory over the Bridgeport Bluefish on Friday evening at Harbor Yard. Having won the first two games on an eight-game road trip, the Revs improve to 19-15 in the second half and pull within three games of first place in the Freedom Division.
Perez went 3-for-6 with a double, homer, and six RBI in Friday's romp, taking over the Atlantic League lead with 61 RBI on the season (entered the game tied for fifth), while also claiming the Revs' franchise RBI record with 218 in his career, surpassing Ramon Castro who held the previous mark of 214.
The Revs jumped ahead with three runs in the top of the first inning. Jose Constanza reached second on an error as left fielder Josh Prince dropped a fly ball near the line to begin the game, and Wilson Valdez (4-for-6) promptly drove him home with an RBI single to right. Valdez took second on the throw, and advanced to third on a wild pitch. A walk to Eric Patterson was followed by another wild pitch, and then another walk to Brandon Boggs which loaded the bases with still no outs. Perez singled to right for his first RBI of the night, and Bryan Pounds added a sac fly to right for a 3-0 lead.
Bridgeport got on the board in the bottom of the second as Wilson Batista led off with a double down the third base line and scored on a triple to right-center by Jobduan Morales.
York responded with a third inning run on a two-out RBI single to right by catcher Luis De La Cruz, taking a 4-1 lead.
The Bluefish clawed within 4-3, scoring on a two-out RBI single to center by Batista and a bases loaded walk to Morales in the bottom of the third. Revs starter Logan Williamson rebounded to strike out Prince, leaving the bases loaded and keeping the lead intact.
Singles by Constanza and Valdez led off the fourth, with Valdez taking second on a throw. The Revs were in danger of wasting a second-and-third, no-out situation as Bluefish starter Cody Scarpetta struck out the next two batters, but Perez came through in the clutch with a three-run homer to left-center, taking over the Revs' all-time RBI lead and moving into sole possession of second in club history with his 46th homer, increasing the lead to 7-3.
Telvin Nash (3-for-5) added a solo homer to nearly the same spot in left-center leading off the fifth, making it an 8-3 York lead.
Williamson retired nine straight before Ethan Chapman led off the home seventh with a single, eventually coming around to score on a throwing error by Valdez, cutting the lead to 8-4. It was an unearned run for Williamson (6-9) who earned the win, allowing four runs (three earned) in 6.1 innings to take over the team lead with his 10th quality start.
Reliever Tony Pena retired the final two batters in the seventh, and set down all five he faced in 1.2 innings of relief.
York put it out of reach late in the game. Perez drilled a two-run double over the head of Prince in left field to make it 10-4 in the eighth. The Revs then used five hits to score three more runs in the ninth, their fourth multi-run inning of the night and third inning of three runs. De La Cruz homered to left-center, reaching nearly the same spot as the other two long balls, while Valdez legged out an RBI infield single and Patterson cracked an RBI double to the right-center gap.
Bridgeport scored one more in the ninth as Chapman tripled to right-center and came home on a groundout by Bryan Sabatella.
York's 13 runs marked the team's second-highest total of the season, both notched in the last week (scored 15 on Saturday vs. Southern Maryland). The Revs pounded 17 hits, remarkably their fifth game in the last nine contests of at least 17 knocks.
