York Revolution News Release

Andres Perez drilled a bases-clearing three-run double to the right-center gap with two outs in the top of the 13th inning, lifting the York Revolution to a thrilling 5-2 victory over the Bridgeport Bluefish on Thursday night at Harbor Yard in the opening game of an eight-game road trip. The Revs improve to 18-15 in the second half, remaining within four games of Lancaster for first place, while snapping a two-game skid. The two teams will meet again on Friday evening.

The other big hit was provided by Telvin Nash leading off the top of the seventh. Down a run, Nash crushed a monstrous game-tying home run to deep left field, his third of the year, leveling the score at 2-2. It would stay that way until Perez provided his heroics.

Mikey Reynolds got the rally started with a single to left to lead off the 13th, and Jose Constanza reached as first baseman Andres Rodriguez fumbled a sacrifice bunt. Wilson Valdez then dropped down a sacrifice bunt, his record 40th all-time with York, advancing both runners. Reliever Chad Povich retired Eric Patterson on a groundout with the infield in, but after an intentional walk to Brandon Boggs, Perez came through with the three-run double, giving the Revs a 5-2 lead. It accounted for the biggest inning, 13th or later, in franchise history.

After working a perfect 12th inning, Luis Perdomo (1-1) allowed a pair of one-out singles, but struck out Josh Prince and Jobduan Morales to finish the night, earning his first win with York.

The Revs bullpen came up huge as six relievers combined for nine shutout innings, and denied the Bluefish of several game-winning opportunities in the late stages.

Beau Vaughan entered first, working two scoreless innings in the fifth and sixth. After York tied the game at 2-2, Tony Pena fired a perfect seventh, and stranded a runner at second after an error in the eighth. Edward Paredes allowed a one-out single, but stranded the winning run at second in the ninth. Ron Schreurs worked around a pair of singles in the tenth inning. Stephen Penney used a 3-6-1 double play to retire the side in order after a leadoff walk in the 11th.

York starter Frank Gailey worked four innings, giving up two runs in the second on an RBI single to left by Prince and an RBI double to right-center by Luis Rodriguez.

The Revs got on the board in the top of the third on a sac fly to right from Valdez, plating Reynolds who had reached on an error and stolen third base with one out.

Bluefish starter Matt Iannazzo allowed just an unearned run over six innings, but took a no-decision as Nash greeted reliever Erik Draxton with the eye-opening long ball that tied the game. Draxton struck out the next three, beginning a stretch of 11 straight retired by Bridgeport's bullpen. Reynolds ended that string with a two-out double to right in the top of the 10th, but the Revs were denied of a go-ahead run when Constanza's hard line drive was hit right at Welington Dotel in right field for the final out. Three innings later, the winning rally finally materialized.

Notes: York improves to 15-10 in games decided in the final at-bat. The Revs are now 5-5 in extra-inning games. York's 10 extra-inning games are one short of tying a club record (11 in 2009 and 2013). It was the Revs' longest game since a 13-inning contest vs. Sugar Land on June 6. Paredes has worked 8.2 scoreless innings over his last eight appearances. Pena has logged 10.2 shutout frames in his last 11 outings. Vaughan has given up just one run in 18.1 innings over his last 16 games pitched. Perez now has 22 RBI in his last 18 games. York lefty Logan Williamson (5-9, 3.66) will face Bridgeport right-hander Cody Scarpetta (1-2, 2.23) on Friday at 7:05 p.m. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350, woyk1350.com, and on the WOYK mobile apps beginning at 6:45 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.
