INDIANAPOLIS -- Right-handed pitcher Hayden Penn has been named the Indianapolis Indians' Player of the Month for June. He will receive a custom-made watch -- courtesy of Windsor Jewelers -- prior to Sunday evening's contest against the Louisville Bats.

The 25-year-old earned four victories for the Tribe during the month of June and posted a 1.89 ERA (7 ER in 33.1 IP) while striking out 32 batters. Penn allowed only nine walks in 33.1 IP and limited opposing batters to a .226 batting average against (28-for-124) in the season's third month.

In the month of June, Penn's 1.89 ERA was the second lowest among all Triple-A pitchers that made at least six starts, trailing only Lehigh Valley's Nate Bump who posted a 1.57 ERA (6 ER in 34.1 IP) in six starts for the IronPigs.

Penn, who spent the first six years of his professional baseball career with the Baltimore Orioles organization, was named the Orioles' Minor League Pitcher of the Year following the 2004 season. The right-hander combined to go 13-6 with a 3.81 ERA at two Class A levels and Double-A Bowie (Md.) during the 2004 campaign.

The Indians close out a two-game home series against the Clippers tonight at 7:15 p.m. before returning home to face the Louisville Bats on July 4-5. Tickets for tonight's and Monday's games are available by going online at www.IndyIndians.com, visiting the Victory Field Box Office at 501 West Maryland Street or calling Ticketmaster at 1-800-745-3000.
