
Penguins to meet Bridgeport in playoffs

WILKES-BARRE, Pennsylvania -- The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins will meet the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the East Division Semifinals of the 2004 American Hockey League Calder Cup playoffs beginning on Thursday, April 15 at 7:05 p.m. at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard. Game Two of the best-of-seven series will be played on Saturday, April 17 (7:05 p.m. start).
The series then shifts to Wilkes-Barre for Games Three and Four on Sunday, April 18 (5:00 p.m. start) and Tuesday, April 20 (7:05 p.m.), respectively, at Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza. If necessary, a Game Five would be played in Bridgeport on Thursday, April 22 (7:05 p.m.) at the Arena at Harbor Yard. Game Six would be played in Wilkes-Barre on Friday, April 23 (7:05 p.m.) and a Game Seven would be played back in Bridgeport on Sunday, April 25 (4:05 p.m.).
The Penguins and Sound Tigers are playing right now at Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza in the final regular season game of the 2003-04 AHL season. The Penguins are 2-3-0-2 this season against the Sound Tigers and have a lifetime record of 2-5-0-2 against their new East Division rivals.
Heading into tonight's game, Bridgeport has won the last three head-to-head meetings against the Penguins, winning 2-1 on March 5 and 17, and 3-2 in overtime on March 31. The Penguins won two straight games against the Sound Tigers, winning 2-1 in overtime at home on December 30 and 3-2 at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard on December 17. Earlier this season, Bridgeport defeated the Penguins, 4-1, in Wilkes-Barre on October 25 and 3-2 in overtime at home on November 16.
The two teams did not play during the 2002-03 season. In 2001-02, Bridgeport defeated Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, 3-2, at Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza on February 2 and won, 3-2, at home a week later, on February 9.
Tickets for the first three home games of the 2004 Calder Cup Playoffs (Games A-C) on now on sale and can be purchased at the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza Box Office and all Ticketmaster locations and telephone outlets.

Payment accepted at the Arena Box Office includes cash, American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa. The First Union Arena Box Office does not accept telephone orders or personal checks. There is no service fee for tickets purchased at the Wachovia Arena Box Office. Single-game ticket prices for the Penguins' first three home games of the 2004 Calder Cup Playoffs are $33.00 (Yellow zone), $22.50 (Red zone), $19.50 (Gold zone) and $15.75 (Blue zone).
The Penguins would also like to let fans know that playoff ticket packages are still available. A playoff ticket package allows fans to keep the same seat for all home playoff games. Please note that ticket packages are available only at the Penguins Team Store in the Arena Hub Plaza or by phone, by calling at 208-PENS (7367).
