Penguins Sign Rust to ATO

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that they have signed forward Bryan Rust to an amateur tryout agreement (ATO).

Rust recently completed his senior season at the University of Notre Dame, having compiled a career-high 17 goals along with 16 assists and 12 penalty minutes in 40 games. An alternate captain for the Irish during the 2013-14 season, Rust finished his four-year career at South Bend with 97 points (43g-54a) and 34 PIM over 161 contests.

Rust, 21, was selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the third round (80th overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft and is the younger brother of former Wilkes-Barre/Scranton forward Matt Rust. He also skated for two seasons with the U.S. National Team Development Program from 2008-10. During the 2008-09 season, Rust played under current Penguins Head Coach John Hynes as a member of the U.S. Under-18 National Team.

The Penguins host the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Friday, April 4 at 7:05pm.
