
Penguins Release Ben Blais from PTO

WILKES-BARRE, PA. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have released defenseman Ben Blais from his professional try-out contract. The announcement was made today by Penguins' team president Jeff Barrett.
Blais, 25, appeared in two games with the Penguins, recording two assists with one shot and a plus/minus rating of plus-two. He was signed by the Penguins on January 7.
The 6'4", 195-pound native of Saratoga Springs, N.Y. has recorded six points (1+5) and 64 penalty minutes in 34 games this season with the Penguins' ECHL affiliate, the Wheeling Nailers
The Penguins (17-15-4-4, 42 pts; 4TH -place, East Division) continue their six-game homestand tonight when they host the Philadelphia Phantoms (23-13-4-1; 51 pts; T-2ND -Place, East Division) at 7:05 p.m. at Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza.
Tonight's game against the Phantoms is SOLD OUT. However, the game will be televised live on Adelphia 63, WNEP-TV's 24-Hour News Channel.
Tickets are still available for tomorrow afternoon's game against the Syracuse Crunch. Approximately 140 tickets are still available for the game. Game time is set for 5:05 p.m. at Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza.
With both the NFC and AFC Championship Games being played tomorrow, the Penguins would like to alert fans attending tomorrow's game that both football games will be played on TVs throughout the concourse area of Wachovia Arena and during intermissions on the Videoboard above center ice. The 6:45 p.m. game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Carolina Panthers will be telvised on the Videoboard following the game during the Weis/Mr. Z's & Pepsi Kids' Club skate.
