Coyotes Reassign Reirden to Falcons after Trade with Anaheim

Springfield, MA – The Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League (AHL) today announced that defenseman Todd Reirden and center Krystofer Kolanos have been reassigned by the Phoenix Coyotes to the club. The Coyotes acquired Reirden from the Anaheim Mighty Ducks today in exchange for future considerations.

Reirden, 32, has registered 11 points (3g, 8a) in 39 games this season with Anaheim's AHL affiliate, the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks, to rank third on the team in scoring among defensemen. The Deerfield, Illinois native has also accumulated 42 penalty minutes (PIM) this season.

For his career, Reirden has posted 74 points (21g, 53a) and 245 PIM in 183 AHL games with Albany, Hamilton, Worcester, and Cincinnati. The 6'4", 214-pound blueliner has also skated in 176 NHL games during his ten-year professional career, recording 44 points (11g, 33a) and 177 PIM. Reirden was selected in the 12th round (242nd overall) by New Jersey in the 1990 NHL Entry Draft.

Reirden is expected to arrive in Springfield in time to join the Falcons for their game in Lowell on Sunday.

Kolanos, 22, was recalled by Phoenix from Springfield late Thursday. The Calgary native was a healthy scratch for the Coyotes' game in Detroit versus the Red Wings on Friday evening.

Kolanos has registered 15 points on nine goals and six assists in 17 games with the Falcons this season. The 6'3", 203-pound center has also collected four points (2g, 2a) in 21 games with Phoenix during the campaign.

Kolanos was selected in the first round (19th overall) by the Coyotes in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. The current season is his third professional campaign.
