
Penguins Recall Right Wing Daigle from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton

WILKES-BARRE, PA - The Pittsburgh Penguins today recalled right wing Alexandre Daigle from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. The announcement was made by Penguins' General Manager Craig Patrick.
Daigle, 28, has played in 39 games for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, recording 38 points (9+29) and 18 penalty minutes. Daigle was assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on December 28th. He has played in 30 games this season with the Penguins, recording seven points (4+3) and eight penalty minutes.
The 6'0", 204-pound native of Montreal, Quebec was signed by the Penguins as a free agent on October 4, 2002. Daigle has appeared in 489 career NHL games with Ottawa, Philadelphia, NY Rangers, Tampa Bay and Pittsburgh, recording 248 points (104+144) and 160 penalty minutes.
He was first overall pick in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft. Daigle was drafted from Victoriaville of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League by the Ottawa Senators. He recorded 281 points (94+187) and 164 penalty minutes in 137 games with the Tigres.
Daigle is expected to be in the lineup tonight as the Penguins host the Philadelphia Flyers at 7:38 p.m. at Mellon Arena.
The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (33-32-6-5, 77 points; third-place, South Division) host the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks (24-33-12-6, 66 points; third-place, Central Division) on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. at the First Union Arena at Casey Plaza. Approximately 400 tickets are still available for the game.
