Bulldogs Head into Last Week of Regular Season

The Hamilton Bulldogs will look to clinch first place overall in the AHL, as they play four games during the final week of the regular season. The Bulldogs magic point total to secure first place overall is four points. Any combination of four points earned by the Bulldogs or points not gained by the Grand Rapids Griffins would guarantee the Bulldogs home ice advantage throughout the 2003 Calder Cup playoffs. The Bulldogs magic point total to earn the top seed in the Eastern Conference is two points.

The Bulldogs will play three games on the road this week with stops in Bridgeport on Wednesday, April 2nd; Binghamton on Friday, April 4th; and Rochester on Sunday, April 6th. The Bulldogs will play one last regular season home game on Saturday, April 5th at Copps Coliseum versus the Manitoba Moose. Fans can purchase $10 general admission upper bowl tickets to this game at area Commisso's Food Market locations. ALL proceeds will be donated to Travis Carter, who suffers from Batten's Disease.

WARD & BERGERON NAMED TO ALL-STAR TEAMS:

The American Hockey League announced Friday that Hamilton Bulldogs right-winger Jason Ward was named to the 2002-03 AHL First All-Star Team and defenceman Marc-Andre Bergeron was named to the 2002-03 AHL Second All-Star Team. Jason Ward, a 24-year-old native of Chapleau, Ontario, was the AHL's leading scorer at the time of his recall to the Montreal Canadiens. In 69 games with the Bulldogs, Ward scored 72 points on 31 goals and 41 assists. Marc-Andre Bergeron, a 22-year-old native of St-Louis-de-France, Quebec, has played in 66 games for the Bulldogs this season and has recorded eight goals and 21 assists for 39 points. Bergeron's plus-34 rating is tops in the AHL.

KOMISAREK AN AHL ALL-ROOKIE ALL-STAR:

The American Hockey League announced Thursday that Hamilton Bulldogs defenceman Mike Komisarek has been named to the 2002-03 AHL All-Rookie Team, as voted by AHL players and media in each of the league's 28 member cities. Komisarek, who is currently playing for the Montreal Canadiens, has skated in 56 games with the Bulldogs this season, earning five goals and 25 assists for 30 points, along with an AHL Rookie best plus-27 rating.

BULLDOGS EYE AHL ROAD WINS RECORD:

The Hamilton Bulldogs are just two road wins shy of tying the AHL record for most wins on the road in a single season, which is 25. The Bulldogs currently have 23 road wins on the season.
