Penguins Make Roster Moves

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that they have loaned left wing Ryan Schnell to the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL. In addition, forwards Cody Chupp and Matt Rust have been released from their professional tryout agreement and amateur tryout agreement, respectively.

Schnell skated in three games with the Penguins, amassing six penalty minutes. The 22-year old third-year pro has played 96 games with the Nailers over the past two seasons, totaling five goals, six assists and 331 PIM.

In his second year as a professional, Chupp posted two assists in six games for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. The Big Rapids, MI native played with the Texas Stars in 2010-11, registering 14 points (5g-9a) in 58 games.

Rust, 22, was signed to an ATO by Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on October 11 and appeared in two games. A rookie this season, the 5' 10", 194-lb center totaled 41 goals and 70 assists in 164 games over a four-year career at the University of Michigan.
