Rockford IceHogs News Release

Rockford, Ill.- The United Hockey League announced the 2004-05 All-Rookie Team, and Rockford IceHogs defenseman Steve Pelletier was on the list. Pelletier, a first year skater out of St. Jerome, Quebec is the second IceHogs defenseman ever to be named to the All-Rookie team, joining former Hogs blue-liner Nick Angel from the 2002-03 season.

Pelletier was voted to the 2004-05 P epsi All-Star Game in Adirondack this season, and was one of only three Rockford skaters to appear in all 80 regular season games. The defenseman led all rookie d-men with a plus/minus rating of +22. The total placed Pelletier third overall in the rookie plus/minus category.

In a season in which Rockford's defensive unit was hit with several American Hockey League call-ups and injuries, Pelletier was a constant for the UHL's second stingiest team. Rockford gave up just 2.54 goals per game, second best in the league.

Pelletier also helped out offensively this season with 1g-17a-18pts. His 17 helpers were third most among Rockford defenseman this season and his +22 was good enough for fifth best on the IceHogs.

Other members of the UHL's All Rookie Team include Quad City Mallards goalie Robert Gherson, Missouri River Otters defenseman Mike Dobmkiewic, Quad City forward Mike Kompon, Flint Generals forward Mike Kinnie and Fort Wayne Komets forward Jonathan Goodwin.

Next Home Game: Tuesday, April 19 vs. Kalamazoo Wings. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Playoff hockey returns to Rockford Tuesday, when Game Three of the 2004-05 Colonial Cup Playoffs with the Wings commences. Rockford looks to creep closer to moving on in the playoffs! The first 1,000 fans to the game will receive Smash Hit Hockey Poster #6 from Medicine Man, Johnson Press, Pepsi and the Rockford Register Star.
