Moline, IL-The United Hockey League announced today that Mallards rookies Mike Kompon and Robert Gherson have been named to the UHL All-Rookie Team. The honors mark the eighth consecutive season that a Mallard has appeared on the All-Rookie Squad.

Robert Gherson is the goaltender on the UHL's All-Rookie Team. He ranked second in the league in goals against average (2.25) and third in save percentage (.925). The Toronto native went 24-12-7 in 45 games played this season. Forward Mike Kompon led all UHL rookies in goals (39), assists (51) and points (90). Kompon also ranked first amongst UHL first-year players in power-play goals (17) and power-play points (33). He was second in shots (230), plus-minus (plus 25) and game-winning goals (five) amongst UHL rookies.

Both Kompon and Gherson were assigned to the Quad Cities by former Mallards Coach Matt Shaw. Shaw is currently an assistant coach with the American League's Houston Aeros, one of six AHL teams that have a working agreement with the Mallards.
