Pelicans Wrap Up Series with Sioux Falls

The Pensacola Pelicans and Sioux Falls Canaries finished their three-game series tonight in Pensacola. Sioux Falls used three home runs and a solid pitching performance to win 8-4.

Sioux Falls didn't waste much time to score the first runs of the game. Four batters into the game, the Canaries had 2-0 lead thanks to a two-run homerun from Ben Van Iderstine. Pensacola cut the lead in half by scoring one run in the bottom of the 1st. Napoleon Calzado hit in Ricardo Cordova who walked to lead off the inning.

The Canaries added two more in the 3rd inning with another two-run homer from Juan Figueroa which scored Cameron Coughlin who walked.

In the 4th inning, Sioux Falls extended their lead to six. For the third time in the game, Sioux Falls utilized a two-run home run, this time from Coughlin. In the bottom of the inning Pensacola added two more runs to make the score 7-3. In the inning, Marcos Rodriguez walked and Trino Aguilar, Bo Williams, and Michael DeCarlo all had hits.

Canaries' starting pitcher Pat Mahomes picked up his 8th win of the season. He gave up 4 runs on 9 hits with 10 strikeouts in 7 innings of work.

Sioux Falls scored one run in the 5th and Pensacola plated one in the 6th to make the final score 8-4.
