Cats win 7-6

Carlos Adolfo's walk off two-run single gave the Fort Worth Cats a 7-6 victory in the series finale against the El Paso Diablos.

The Fort Worth Cats got off to a quick start in the bottom of the first. Terrence Green led off the frame with a triple down the left field line. Marc Mirizzi picked up the RBI on a ground out to short for the 1-0 Cats lead.

The Diablos responded in the top of the second. The Diablos plated three runners in the inning. Beau Hintz walked Albenis Machado with the bases loaded scoring Walter Olmstead. Kory Drew then plated two with a single down the right field line for the 3-1 lead.

The Cats pieced together one run in the bottom of the second. Chuck Carter started things off with a single. He moved around the horn on an error and a passed ball. Terrence Green lifted a sacrifice fly to right field cutting the lead to 3-2.

The Cats took the lead with a three run bottom of the fourth. Alan Moye led things off with a single. Chuck Carter then plated Moye with a massive triple to left. Two batters later Steve Trout smashed a triple of his own to right field which scored Carter. Jordan Foster hit a run-scoring single to bring home Trout for the 5-4 lead.

El Paso tied up the game in the top of the sixth. Kory Drew hammered a lead-off double to dead center field. Walter Olmstead would drive home Drew with a jam-shot double down the left field line, which tied the game at five.

El Paso took the lead in the top of the ninth. Walter Olmstead led off the frame with a single through the right side. Jordan Belcher would sacrifice Olmstead over to second on a bunt. Evan Conley then grounded out to second moving Olmstead just ninety feet away to third. Casey Clary would come to the plate and blasted a shot down the right field line, which scored Olmstead and gave Clary the triple. Albenis Machado would line out to end the rally, but El Paso took a 6-5 lead into the bottom of the ninth.

Ned Darley was summoned for the bottom of the ninth. Darley retired Steve Trout on a ground out to start things off. Terrence Green would reach on a bloop single the next at-bat. Jordan Foster then walked moving Green over to second. Marc Mirizzi grounded out to second moving both runners over. Carlos Adolfo became the hero with a ground ball single bounced up the middle scoring Green and Foster for the victory.

The Fort Worth Cats won two out of three games in the series in their final at-bat.

Robbie Wachman threw six innings allowing four earned runs off of 10 hits with one walk and five strikeouts.

Ned Darley (3-3) takes the loss as he threw two thirds of an inning allowing two runs off of two hits with one walk.

Aaron Marsden (3-2) gets the victory as he threw and inning and a third allowing one run off of two hits with one walk and no strikeouts.

The Diablos will open up a three game series with the Shreveport Sports on Monday night at 6:05 PM MST. Greg Wiltshire will get the start for El Paso. The game will be broadcast live at www.diablos.com with Jon Barr on the call.
