In game one of the doubleheader, the Sports and Aviators fought into extra innings. But Coastal Bend scored four runs thanks to three Shreveport errors in the top of the eighth inning to take a commanding 7-3 lead. The Sports tried to rally in the bottom of the inning, but after Shreveport RF Chad Gambill crossed the plate to make the score 7-4, Aviators closer Tom Atlee struck out CF Deacon Burns to give Coastal Bend the win. Aviators 1B Grant Richardson was perfect on the night, going 2-for-2 with two walks, two runs scored and two RBI. For the Sports, Gambill went 2-for-3 with three runs scored, two RBI and the game's only home run.

Shreveport 5, Coastal Bend 1(Game 2 - 7 innings)

Sports RF Chad Gambill gave the Sports a early 2-0 lead with his second home run of the doubleheader, a two-run shot in the bottom of the first inning. Gambill went 1-for-2 in the game with a walk, two runs scored and two RBI. The Sports took full advantage of an early Aviators error and two walks by starting Coastal Bend pitcher Flores and scored five runs on only three hits in the game. Starting Sports pitcher Mal Winters earned his second victory of the season with a 5.1-inning performance in which he allowed no runs on four hits with a walk and two strikeouts. The loss is Coastal Bend's first of the second half.

Sioux Falls 9, Pensacola 1

The Canaries had no problems handling Pensacola Saturday night, as Sioux Falls scored nine runs on 12 hits against three Pelicans pitchers. Seven Sioux Falls batters registered hits in the game, with C Tim Marks leading the way, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored. The top of the Sioux Falls line up batted in most of the game's runs, as RF Juan Figueroa, DH Will Smith and LF Ben Van Inderstine collected two RBI a piece. Starting Canaries pitcher Jeff Landing picked up his sixth win of the season after pitching seven innings and allowing one run on five hits and a walk with five strikeouts. Pelicans 3B Trino Aguilar homered in the bottom of the fourth inning to put Pensacola's only run on the board.

Sioux City 4, St. Joe 2

After falling behind 1-0 early, the Blacksnakes battled back in the middle innings to take a 2-1 lead after five, thanks to a sacrifice fly by SS Casey Gordon. But the Explorers answered right back, scoring three in the top of the sixth inning highlighted by a two-run double by RF Pete Pirman. Pirman had a hand in all four Explorers runs on the night, scoring one and batting in three. Starting Sioux City pitcher Alexander Francisco picked up his fifth win of the season. Francisco pitched six innings and allowed two runs on five hits with one walk and six strikeouts.

St. Paul 9, Lincoln 7

The Saltdogs took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but the Saints scored at least one run in each of the second through sixth innings to take a dominant 8-2 lead. The Saltdogs were not done, however, as they pulled within one run of St. Paul at 8-7 after a two-run single by 3B Jay Yaconetti in the top of the eighth inning. St. Paul answered in the bottom of the inning by scoring a run on a 1B Matt Longmire sacrifice fly to take a two-run lead. Starting Saints pitcher Jake Postlewait did not have his best outing, but thanks to his teammates' bats picked up his sixth win of the season. Postlewait pitched 7.2 innings and allowed six runs, four earned, on nine hits and two walks with a strikeout.
