MYRTLE BEACH, S.C (JUNE 17, 2015) -- The Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, will host "Back to the Future Night," on Saturday, June 20, when the Pelicans play the Lynchburg Hillcats at 7:05 p.m. ET. Based on the classic Michael J. Fox film, Pelicans players will wear custom jerseys for the game, and those jerseys will be available to purchase at auction during the game at TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the original Back to the Future film. The inspiration for the Pelicans' Back to the Future Night comes from a scene in Back to the Future Part II in which Fox's character, Marty McFly, travels 30 years into the future for the first time. While wandering the main city square in his hometown, he stumbles upon an electronic video board announcing that the Chicago Cubs won the 2015 World Series over "Miami."

The custom Pelicans jerseys are based on what Christopher Lloyd's character, Doc Brown, wore in the film [ATTACHED]. The eccentric scientist often wore an unbuttoned lab coat overtop a Hawaiian t-shirt decorated with a purple and yellow locomotive design. Because the character traveled through time in a sports car, he wore early twentieth-century pilots' goggles. As such, the jerseys will resemble the same overcoat and Hawaiian shirt design printed through the middle. The front of the jersey will have an upper-left breast "pocket" and two flap "pockets" on the bottom right and bottom left. The jersey will also have the pilots' goggles "hanging" loosely around the neck, with the word "Pelicans" printed on the chest. The jersey numbers will be Pelicans Blue with a Sun Gold trim, and the Pelicans team logo will be printed on the left sleeve.

All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Michael J. Fox foundation for Parkinson's disease research. Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 1991, and publicly disclosed his condition in 1998.

In the spirit of the film, the team's InFlight Magazine publication has a redesigned cover that resembles the "Sports Almanac" from the movie, which is a major factor in the plot of Back to the Future Part II. During the game, fans will also have the chance to participate in various fun activities based on the movie. Among those activities will be a "Doc Brown" lookalike contest, and the winner of the contest will win one of the night's custom Back to the Future Jerseys. Fans who participate must check in at the Guest Services booth by 6:15 p.m. ET to enter.

These jerseys will not be available for auction online. Fans who wish to bid on them can do so during the game at the bidding signup table next to the Guest Services booth on the main concourse, located behind the home plate area of TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark.

The first pitch for the Saturday night game between the Pelicans and the Hillcats is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET.

The 2015 season marks the 17th season for the Pelicans franchise and first as the Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. For information on tickets to see the Pelicans in 2015, please call (843) 918-6000, e-mail info@myrtlebeachpelicans.com, or visit www.MyrtleBeachPelicans.com.
