LAST TIME OUT: Lynchburg loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth but came up one run shy of a comeback to fall to the Potomac Nationals, 4-3, Tuesday night...DACE KIME hit the very first batter he faced and allowed an RBI single to ISAAC BALLOU in the top of the first inning that gave Potomac an early 1-0 lead, but the Hillcats didn't let the lead last for long. In the home half of the inning, NELLIE RODRIGUEZ hit a sacrifice fly to center field that drove home CLINT FRAZIER, who reached on a fielder's choice, and two batters later, ERIC HAASE drove home BRADLEY ZIMMER on an RBI double to give the Hillcats a 2-0 lead...After giving up a run in the first inning, KIME surrendered just one more run in the top of the third inning...KHAYYAN NORFORK tripled with one out and was driven home two batters later by STEPHEN PEREZ on a single up the middle to tie the game at 2-all...KIME pitched 5 1/3 innings before leaving the game with the score tied at two...Potomac regained the lead in the top of the seventh inning on a two-out, two-RBI single by PEREZ that put the Nationals up 4-2, but Lynchburg didn't go away quietly...In the bottom of the ninth inning, HAASE and MIKE PAPI walked to start the inning, which was followed by a single by JOE SEVER to load the bases with no outs...IVAN CASTILLO then saw his six-game hitting streak come to an end as he grounded into a double play, but HAASE was able to score to make it 4-3...With two outs and the tying run at third, LUIGI RODRIGUEZ hit a groundball up the middle, but ADRIAN SANCHEZ was able to get to the ball and make a quick throw to first, beating RODRIGUEZ by mere inches to end the game and the Hillcats' comeback...

VS. POTOMAC: Potomac goes for a three-game sweep of the Hillcats today...Potomac also swept Lynchburg at City Stadium in three-straight contests last season from August 19-21...The Hillcats have won three straight against the Nationals three times in the last three years...Meanwhile, the Nationals have had three different six-game winning streaks against Lynchburg during that same span...The last time the Hillcats won four straight against Potomac was May 28-July 9, 2011, which included three seven-inning games...OF BRADLEY ZIMMER leads the team with a .429 average against the P-Nats, which includes two doubles and four home runs in 11 games...ZIMMER has also stolen seven bases and scored 11 runs against Potomac...OF LUIGI RODRIGUEZ has a .314 average with two doubles, two home runs and all 10 RBIs in 10 games against the P-Nats... For Potomac, DREW WARD has a team-best .333 average with three doubles, six runs, and 13 RBIs in 11 games...

ALL GOOD THINGS MUST COME TO AN END: By giving up a run in his second inning of work last night, JUSTIN BRANTLEY saw his scoreless innings streak snap at 13 consecutive frames, which beat his own mark as the longest consecutive scoreless innings streak by any Hillcat this season...BRANTLEY also shut down opponents for 11 2/3 scoreless frames between April 28 and May 19...From May 23 until last night, Brantley registered two saves and opponents only hit .132 (5-for-38) against him...For 2015, BRANTLEY has an ERA of 2.06 and an opponents' batting average of .194...

IT'S HELLER TIME: BEN HELLER worked a scoreless ninth inning yesterday to continue his recent string of strong outings...In his last 11 appearances, HELLER has only surrendered one run and six hits over 11 1/3 frames...He has struck out nine during that span, and opponents are only batting 6-for-40 (.150) against the right-hander...

FIGHT FIRE WITH FEYEREISEN: With Brantley's streak coming to a close yesterday, recent addition J.P. FEYEREISEN now holds the distinction of the longest current scoreless innings streak...The right-hander out of River Falls, Wisc., surrendered two runs at Winston-Salem in his Advanced-A debut, but he has been lights out ever since...FEYEREISEN has only allowed one hit in his past 5 2/3 innings while striking out eight batters during that time...He logged his first save for the Hillcats against the Dash on June 5...Before being promoted on May 27, FEYEREISEN had already notched a 1-0 record with 10 saves at Low-A Lake County while posting an ERA of 1.08...

HIT OR BE HIT: Lynchburg saw BRADLEY ZIMMER, ERIC HAASE and JOE SEVER all be hit by a pitch Monday night...The Hillcats have been hit by a pitch 42 times this season, which is 11 more than any other team in the league (Wilmington, 31)...Individually, ZIMMER leads the league with 10 plunks, while both HAASE and CLINT FRAZIER are tied for second on the circuit after being drilled seven times this year...

HEY, I'M STANDING HERE: The Hillcats had the tying run in scoring position after the seventh inning for the second-straight night but failed to complete a late-inning comeback...Last night, the Hillcats left four men in scoring position while Monday night's contest saw seven runners left on either second or third base by the 'Cats...

THIS DATE IN BASEBALL HISTORY: On June 17, 1960, Ted Williams became the fourth major leaguer to hit 500 career home runs when he goes deep off Cleveland's Wayne Hawkins. Williams' two-run blast proves to be difference when the Red Sox beat the Indians at Cleveland's Municipal Stadium, 3-1 (Source: Nationalpastime.com).
