- RHP Wilfredo Boscan (4-10, 3.92) at RHP Anthony Ranaudo (3-5, 4.86) -

DE LOS DOMINANCE: Lefty Miguel De Los Santos's most recent outing was just his most recent dominant outing. Following seven no-hit innings two starts prior and a win over the Potomac Nationals in his last start, DLS once again overwhelmed an opponent in Tuesday's middle game at Salem. The lefty struck out 11 for the second straight time--his third straight double-digit strikeout performance--and only allowed two baserunners, one on a leadoff single on the infield in the first, and one on a one-out double in the sixth that snapped a string of 15 straight retired. According to Scott Lucas of The Newberg Report, in De Los Santos's last three starts spanning 18 innings, opponents are batting .098 with a 48% strikeout rate (32 Ks in 67 plate appearances) against the left-hander.

RESURGENCEBORGER: After a dream start to his first full professional season that saw him named the starting center fielder for the Carolina League's best in the 2011 California-Carolina League All-Star game, Pelicans outfielder Ryan Strausborger saw his July quickly turn into a nightmare. August, however, has been much more representative of the Indiana State's breakout campaign. Strausborger, tabbed an All-Star after a first half that saw him bat .305 with seven homers, 40 runs batted in, 21 stolen bases, and an .861 OPS while starting all 69 pre-Break Pelicans games, slogged through 24 July games with a .185 batting average, one homer, 11 runs batted in, 18 strikeouts to nine walks, and a .567 OPS. In 15 August games, though, Strausborger is a .333 hitter with two homers, an .827 OPS, and ten runs scored. On Tuesday night at Salem, Strausborger was moved back to the leadoff spot in manager Jason Wood's lineup, a spot he hasn't occupied since May 7, oddly enough, also at Salem. Strausborger singled twice, walked once, and scored a run back in the top spot in the order in helping lead the Pelicans to a 4-0 win over the Red Sox.

WELCOME, NEW GUY: First baseman Andrew Clark announced his arrival in the Carolina League in a big way Sunday at Potomac. Clark, promoted to Myrtle Beach on August 14, was in the fifth spot in the lineup in his first day with the club and smashed a two-run tiebreaking homer in the fourth inning en route to the Pelicans' 5-2 series-concluding win over the Potomac Nationals. Clark later singled and scored the Pelicans' final run of the afternoon. Monday, Clark doubled home a pair of runs in the Pelicans' three-run fifth at Salem and worked a bases-loaded walk one inning later to drive home his third. On Tuesday, Clark lifted a sacrifice fly to right field to score Travis Adair with Myrtle Beach's second run of the day and later singled twice to lift his early Carolina League average to .417.
