Pelicans Conduct USSSA Skills Competition

With the USSSA World Series in full swing, the Pensacola Pelican players will conduct the Skills Competition portion of the event on Wednesday, July 15. Pelican players and coaches will be at the Santa Rosa Sports Complex from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. assisting in the event, which will consist of three individual events and one team event for every age group.

The three individual events for the competition will include Roadrunner (base race), Bunt Competition, and Homerun Derby. Each event will consist of two players from each team competing with the best score counting for that team. The team event is Around the Horn, which involves the nine players in a timed race to throw the ball to each position.

All winners will be announced and introduced during the Pelicans game that evening beginning at 6:35 p.m. as part of the USSSA World Series Social event.

The Pelicans finish their current home stand against El Paso on Wednesday before traveling to Fort Worth for a three-game set. Wednesday's game is themed Family Night; fans can get a ticket, hot dog, and Pepsi for only $10.

Only three home stands remain in the 2008 season. Party decks, suites, and group outings are still available beginning on Thursday, July 24 through Wednesday, July 30. Friday, July 25 is the Pelicans Beach Towel Giveaway and the Spitball Gang Mascot Entertainment Act will be at Pelican Park on Saturday, July 26.
