Wichita handed Fort Worth starter Lee Gwaltney his first loss of the year as the Wingnuts scored five runs in the first four innings to beat the Cats 5-3. Wichita withstood a late charge as Fort Worth scored a run in the eighth inning and another in the ninth before Wingnuts closer Byron Embry recorded the final outs to earn his 14th save. 3B Michael Thompson led the charge offensively for Wichita going 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI. SS Kevin Hooper also had a good game as he finished 2-for-3 with a run scored. Cats SS Blair Cameron homered for the second time this season, drove in two, scored twice, and had three hits. Richard Salazar went 7 1/3 innings and surrendered just two earned runs to improve to 4-3 on the year.

Juan Camacho homered and drove in three, and Nick Singleton had his finest outing of the season as he baffled St. Paul hitters all night to lead Sioux City to an 11-0 road win. Singleton went eight innings and allowed just two hits while striking out six to up his record to 5-4. The Explorers led 3-0 after four innings and used five hits and a St. Paul error to score five times in the fifth inning and blow the game open. Dustin Bolton was the loser as he lasted only five innings allowed three earned runs on seven hits. Four batters had multi-hit games for the Explorers who out hit the Saints 12-3 in the contest.

Sioux Falls 4, Lincoln 1 (8 Innings)

In a rain-shortened game, Sioux Falls defeated Lincoln 4-1 as Travis Kane worked six solid innings to improve to 7-4. Kane allowed five hits and struck out four while allowing just one earned run. DH Will Smith went 3-for-4 and C Paul Smyth finished 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead the Canaries offense. 2B Josh Patton belted his ninth homer of the year. Three Saltdogs had two or more hits in the game as Lincoln tallied nine total hits but could score just one run. Josh Kite pitched the eighth inning and came away with his first save of the season. Jason Jarvis took the loss for Lincoln and dropped to 2-6.

El Paso 4, Pensacola 2

El Paso used a solid performance from starter Adam Blackley and solo homers from 1B Bryon Smith and RF Stantrel Smith to double up Pensacola 4-2. Blackley went six innings and struck out seven while allowing just two earned runs to even his mark at 5-5 on the year. Daniel Smith went 7 1/3 innings but gave up three earned runs and fell to 0-3. Pelicans LF Matt Pali led the offense for Pensacola with three hits. SS Willie James and 2B Jorge Alvarez each had two hits in the contest for El Paso.
