SITE: Jim Spooner Field at Pelican Park in Pensacola, FL (July 7-12, 2009)
TIME: 6:35 p.m. Central Time on Tuesday through Friday, 6:05 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday
ABOUT THE SERIES:
Four of the six games between these two teams have been decided by one run. The first time the Pelicans faced the Diablos was in El Paso for a three game series. The first game went to ten innings before Pensacola claimed a 7-6 victory. Chase Burch had three hits in the first game of the series, and then hit his first professional homerun during an 11-8 loss the next day. On the final day, the Pelicans erased a seven-run deficit, but the Diablos held on to win 11-10.
The teams met again in Pensacola less than a week later. Just like the first series, the initial game went to extra innings. Eddy Rodriguez and his two homeruns helped the Diablos win it 8-7 in 12 innings. The Pelicans rallied back the next day, taking the lead in the eighth and riding Hunter Davis' fifth save to win 5-4.
