Myrtle Beach Pelicans News Release
MYRTLE BEACH,S.C.(July 9, 2014) - The Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Texas Rangers, are pleased to announce that they are adding additional $1.00 beer nights to the 2014 line-up. Additional nights will include:
- Friday, July 11
- Monday, July 14
- Friday, August 1
- Monday, September 1
Prior to the season the Pelicans worked with the league office to make significant changes to their 2014 schedule. These changes resulted in the team having at least one home game each week, and allowing every tourist the opportunity to experience a Pelicans game while in Myrtle Beach.
"For us, it's all about providing a great experience to our fans," stated Senior Director of Community Development Jen Borowski. "With so many visiting from out of town we want to make sure they are able to experience as much of Pelicans Baseball as possible."
One such example is the nightly Kids Run the Bases promotion. Most Minor League ballparks, and some Major League parks, do the same promotion but only once a week. The Pelicans, with the ultimate fan experience in mind, do it every game. Following that same line of thought, the team has added four additional $1.00 beer nights to the 2014 season. The chosen nights occur during weeks without a traditional Thirsty Thursday.
"Thirsty Thursday is our most popular night with both locals and tourists," stated General Manager Andy Milovich. "When discussing our goals for the 2015 schedule with our owner, Chuck Greenberg, he commented "Ëwouldn't it be great to be home every Thursday?' We quickly realized that beyond the alliteration of Thirsty Thursday, the magic was in the "ËThirsty' and every visitor to the Grand Strand should have a chance to enjoy a great summer evening at TicketReturn.Com Field with a $1.00 beverage regardless of the limitations of our schedule."
Stadium Journey Magazine has ranked the Pelicans as a top three Minor League stadium experience and a top 25 stadium experience in all of sports the last two years. The magazine is currently evaluating MiLB parks for its 2014 rankings and Special Correspondent Harrison Huntley paid a visit to TicketReturn.Com Field earlier this month. Huntley's official review, titled "That's the Ticket", gave the Pelicans a FANFARE Score of 4.6 out of a possible 5.
