Arkansas Travelers News Release
Frisco, TX - Travs OF Aaron Peel was placed on the disabled list today with a fractured left clavicle. He suffered the injury Saturday night in a collision at home plate with Midland catcher Anthony Recker during the Travs 6-3 victory. The Angels transferred OF Cliff Remole from Rancho Cucamonga to replace Peel on the Travs' active roster. Remole will join the Travs in Frisco for today's doubleheader. Peel joins Chris Pettit on the Travs' disabled list.
Peel was hitting .278 with a home run and three RBI in seven games at the time of the injury. The collision with Recker took place in the second inning of Saturday's series finale at Midland. Peel held first base when Corey Smith hit a bases-loaded single scoring two runs. When Peel also tried to score on the hard grounder into center field, Recker received the throw with time to brace himself for a hit. Peel threw his left shoulder into Recker knocking the catcher back, but he held onto the ball. Peel was removed from the game in the following inning.
Remole, in his fifth year as an Angels farm hand, played in seven games at Rancho Cucamonga batting .189 but with six RBI. The 25-year old from Atlanta was drafted by the Angels with an 11th round pick in 2004 out of Georgia Tech.
