Springdale, AR- The Northwest Arkansas Naturals couldn't get their bats nor the weather to heat up Monday Night, dropping a 6-1 decision at Arvest Ballpark to the Corpus Christi Hooks before a crowd of 3,299.

For the Hooks (8-3), veteran first baseman Rob Cosby hit a three-run bomb off Naturals' reliever Kyle Crist in the eighth inning to give the Hooks a 5-0 lead and put the game out of reach for the Naturals.

Missions' pitcher Brad James (1-1) started and had a solid sinker and slider working in the victory, tossing six shutout innings allowing just four hits, striking out three batters and walking two. Pitcher German Melendez picked up his first save of the season, going 2 1/3 innings and allowing an unearned run while striking out two and walking three batters.

Naturals right-hander Carlos Rosa (1-1) was the hard luck loser. He lasted four innings, giving up just one run on three hits, striking out four and only walked two batters before exiting.

In a game that saw temperatures begin around 50 and sink into the low-40s towards the late innings, the Naturals (4-7) managed just four hits. The lone run for the Naturals was a sacrifice fly by Jose Duarte in the ninth which scored Irving Falu. Angel Sanchez was 2-for-2 with two walks.

The Naturals will play the rubber game of the three-game series against the Corpus Christi Hooks on Tuesday Night at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday will be Arvest Customer Appreciation Night at the ballpark.
