BINGHAMTON, NY - Greg Peavey struck out a career-high nine batters and Kyle Johnson drove in two runs in the Binghamton Mets' 5-3 win over the Altoona Curve on Wednesday night at NYSEG Stadium. Binghamton overcame a two-run deficit and used a three-run fifth to even the series.

Altoona got on the board first in the second inning. With two outs, Keon Broxton tacked a line-drive double to left field. Willy Garcia then singled to left to bring home the first run of the game.

The Curve added to their lead the following inning. Jarek Cunningham doubled to start off the frame and moved to third on a single by Altoona pitcher Joely Rodriguez. The next batter, Gift Ngoepe, grounded into a double play, plating Cunningham to extend the visitor's lead to 2-0.

Rodriguez cruised through the first three frames, but Binghamton got to him in the fourth. Matt Reynolds led off with a double and stole third base. Following a strikeout, Kevin Plawecki looped hit a sacrifice fly to left-center field to cut the deficit to 2-1.

The B-Mets grabbed the lead for good in the fifth. Cory Vaughn started things with a single. Wilfredo Tovar reached on an infield single off the glove of Altoona shortstop Alen Hanson. With one out, Kyle Johnson singled to drive home Vaughn and tie the game. Two batters later, Matt Reynolds reached on an error by Hanson, Tovar scored and Binghamton took a 3-2 lead. Matt Clark capped the inning with an RBI double off the right-field wall, kicking Binghamton's lead to two.

Altoona got a run back in the sixth. Mel Rojas, Jr. smacked a two-out ground rule double to left-center field. Stetson Allie answered with a single to bring home Rojas, Jr. and cut the lead to 4-3.

Binghamton added an insurance run in the seventh. Tovar led off with a walk and stole second base. Johnson tapped a one-out single to centerfield to bring Tovar home and extend the B-Mets lead to 5-3.

Adam Kolarek worked around a leadoff single to post a scoreless eighth and Chasen Bradford posted a perfect ninth to earn his seventh save of the season.

Peavey (3-1) allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits to earn his third win in as many starts. Rodriguez (1-4) allowed four runs (two earned) on five hits over five innings in the loss.

The B-Mets (19-16) wrap up their series with Altoona on Thursday. LHP Darin Gorski takes the hill for Binghamton against RHP Adrian Sampson. The Horizons Federal Credit Union Pregame Show begins at 6:20 PM on Newsradio 1290 WNBF.

POSTGAME NOTES: Greg Peavey has gone six innings or more in each of his last three starts...Kevin Plawecki went 0-for-3 and saw his nine-game hitting streak come to an end...Johnson went 2-for-3 with two RBI and scored a run to extend his hitting streak to eight games.
