Pearl Day, Braves Baseball at Trustmark Park Saturday

PEARL, MS -- The Mississippi Braves will host the 2014 Pearl Day Festival at Trustmark Park Saturday, May 17. The Braves take on the Tennessee Smokies in an 11:00 AM game Saturday. Pearl Day runs from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The gates to Trustmark Park will reopen at 5:00 PM for a concert by country music star Rodney Atkins at 7:00 PM. The Jason Miller Band will open the free show.

The annual Pearl Day Festival has been relocated to the grounds of Trustmark Park. A huge carnival will be set up in the Trustmark Park parking lot all day long with arts and crafts vendors along with fair food vendors. The M-Braves will play at 11:00 AM. Gates open at 10:00 AM. The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a free replica M-Braves jersey compliments of the Mississippi Forestry Commission and Miss 103. The mascot act Rally will also be performing live on the field during the game.

Rodney Atkins will throw out the first pitch and lead fans in "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the seventh inning stretch of the Braves game Saturday morning. The Trustmark Park gates will reopen at 5:00 PM for a FREE concert beginning at 7:00 PM. Rodney Atkins will headline the show with the Jason Miller Band opening the show. Following the concert, fans can enjoy a huge fireworks show.

The Mississippi Braves is the Double-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. Since making the move from Greenville, SC, in 2005, over 80 M-Braves have gone on to play in the big leagues. The M-Braves have made postseason play three times and went on to win the Southern League Championship in 2008. Tickets are on sale now.
