Birmingham Barons News Release

Birmingham, AL - The Birmingham Barons dropped their third game in a row and second-straight to the Huntsville Stars, falling by a score of 4-2 at Joe Davis Stadium.

Stars second baseman Josh Prince provided the first two runs of the game, touching Barons starter Chris Beck (2-6, 4.35) for solo home runs in the first and third innings.

The lead would grow to 4-0 in the sixth inning on an RBI single by Jason Rogers and a missed catch error by Dan Wagner. The hit knocked Beck from the game after allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits over 5.1 IP.

The Barons managed just two hits against Stars starter Drew Gagnon (4-1, 2.36) who struck out five and walked three over 7.2 scoreless IP.

The Barons finally broke through in the ninth, loading the bases and getting a two-run infield single by Chris Curley against reliever Arcenio Leon. However the rally would fall short as closer David Goforth struck out Josh Richmond to end the game.

With the loss, the Barons fell to 16-25 on the season while Huntsville improved to 28-14. The Barons will look to snap a three-game losing streak tomorrow night as RHP Myles Jaye (0-5, 5.49) to the hill against RHP Taylor Jungmann (3-4, 3.20). Firstpitch is scheduled for 6:30 PM CDT on Thursday.
