
Biscuits Pound Generals 10-2 On Friday Night

JACKSON, TN - The Montgomery Biscuits (22-19) took game two of this five game set 10-2 over the Generals (17-24) in Jackson Friday night. Eight Biscuits recorded a hit and all nine reached base as they pounded out 15 hits to even the series at one win apiece.
The Biscuits scored first, putting five runs on the board in the second inning. Luke Maile tripled to score Jake Hager from first, then Maile scored on Joey Rickard's single to make the score 2-0 Montgomery. Two batters later Cameron Seitzer singled home Willie Argo and Taylor Motter scored as well when Leon Landry (2x4, RBI, 2B) bobbled the ball in the outfield. Seitzer scored on Richie Shaffer's double and the score 5-0 Biscuits after the top of the second.
Jackson closed the gap right away though in the bottom of the inning. In the bottom of the second John Hicks (2x4, R, 2B), Jack Marder (1x4, R, RBI, 2B) and Landry hit back-to-back-to-back doubles to score two runs and cutting the lead to 5-2.
Montgomery added another run when Maile singled in the third inning and scored on a single by Argo. The lead expanded to four runs at 6-2 after three innings.
The Biscuits scored three more runs in the fifth with an RBI single from Argo and two sacrifice flies. The lead was 9-2 after five innings in favor of Montgomery. They added one more run in the ninth to improve the final score to 10-2.
Victor Mateo (6-3, 3.40) earned the win going five strong innings for the Biscuits. He gave up just two runs and scattered eight hits to pick up his sixth win on the season.
Matt Anderson (0-2, 18.41) suffered his second loss in his second Double-A start. He gave up six runs on ten hits in four innings of work.
John Hicks extended his Southern League leading on base streak to 17 games with his double in the second inning.
The Generals and Biscuits will play the third game of this five game series on Saturday at the Ballpark in Jackson. Victor Sanchez (0-0, 6.59) will make the start for Jackson and Dylan Floro (2-4, 5.20) will be on the bump for Montgomery. Saturday Night there will be postgame fireworks, presented by JEA and it is Reading Night, presented by Union University. The game is scheduled to start at 6:05 pm and can be heard on 96.5 ESPN, TuneIn Radio and jacksongeneralsbaseball.com.
