Pawtucket Red Sox News Release
Lars Anderson belted a leadoff double in the top of the eighth and scored on a wild pitch by Justin DeFratus to lift the PawSox to 2-1 win over first place Lehigh Valley in a game that started at 11:05 a.m. on Thursday. Offense was hard to come by for both teams. They combined for a total of 11 hits, 7 for Pawtucket. The PawSox scored in the second inning on a base hit by Che-Hsuan Lin. Lins' single plated Nate Spears. In the seventh, former PawSox All Star Brandon Moss hammered a homer to straightaway center field to tie it at 1-1. National League All Star, Placido Polanco went 0-2 with a walk in a rehab start. (bulging disc) The Phillies third baseman is expected to play again on Friday.
Matt Fox pitched well but didn't figure in the decision. Fox allowed 1 run on 2 hits (Moss' HR). Scott Atchison, Hideki Okajima and Michael Bowden each tossed a scoreless inning of relief. Bowden hasn't given up an earned run in 14 innings. Michael earned his 13th save in 14 tries. Now just three games out of first place, the PawSox wrap up their series and road trip on Friday at 7:05 p.m. Brandon Duckworth, the I.L. Pitcher of the Week (7-6, 3.78) faces Brian Bass (5-8, 4.03).
