Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
The first-place IronPigs (62-43) play Game Three of a big, four-game showdown against the second-place Pawtucket Red Sox (58-47). With a 4-1 win last night, the Pigs have now won five games in a row and moved back to 4.0 games ahead in the North Division. They've also won six of their last seven contests following a 15-18 skid (6/16-7/20) and improved to 5-1 on this season-long, 10-game home stand.
The Red Sox -- Boston's top affiliate -- have dumped three straight after winning six of seven games. Still, the Sox remain 15-8 in their last 22 affairs. In fact, since Lehigh Valley first arrived at McCoy Stadium on June 16, the Sox are 26-15 and have gained 4.5 G (they were at that point 32-32, 8.5 GB and had lost 7 of 9)... Pawtucket hasn't held a share of 1st place since April 22 (tied w/ SWB) and has only had one day in sole possession (April 19).
RHP Scott Mathieson (0-1, 3.05) will start for LHV against 2011 I.L. All-Star RHP Matt Fox (6-4, 5.03).
Today is the IronPigs annual Camp Day, presented by K12. First-pitch is scheduled for 11:05 a.m.
