Charlotte Knights News Release
FORT MILL, S.C. - The Charlotte Knights were unable to hold off the Indianapolis Indians in a 2-1 loss at Knights Stadium. Knights starting pitcher Doug Davis made his Knights Stadium debut striking out six through 6.0 innings of work.
Charlotte grabbed an early lead when Jordan Danks hit a solo home run in the second inning. It was Danks' second consecutive game in which he has hit a home run. Unfortunately it was the only run of the game that the Knights would score.
In the next inning, Indianapolis would do some damage on Davis. The Indians' Pedro Ciriaco reached on a single and then advanced to third after Josh Harrison doubled in the next at-bat. Ciriaco would then score on a wild pitch by Davis which tied the game. John Bowker would then single to center field which scored Harrison and gave the Indians a lead they would never relinquish
The Knights best chance to regain the lead came in the 6th inning when they put runners on second and third with no outs. The Knights did put on a running clinic as they stole a season high five bases in the game, including two from Lastings Milledge.
Garrett Olson improved to 4-0 on the season and Tim Wood earned his 19th save of the season. Davis picked up his first loss and fell to 1-1 on the season.
The Knights and Indians continue their series tomorrow at 7:15 PM. RHP Dylan Axelrod will start for Charlotte and RHP Russ Ohlendorf of the Pittsburgh Pirates will make a major league rehab start for Indianapolis.
The Charlotte Knights are the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. For ticket or event information, please contact the Knights front office at (704) 357-8071 or (803) 548-8050 or visit our website at for more information.
