Paul Mcanulty Optioned To Portland; Adam Shabala Released

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Beavers today placed infielder/outfielder Paul McAnulty on the active roster and released outfielder Adam Shabala. McAnutly was optioned to Portland by the San Diego Padres on Friday.

McAnulty, 26, was batting .200 (8-for-40) with one home run and five RBIs in 20 games with the Padres. He was recalled by San Diego on May 26 and appeared in 12 games during his second stint with the club. In 32 games with Portland this season, McAnulty is batting .277 with seven doubles, two homers and 15 RBIs.

McAnulty began the season with San Diego, batting .125 (1-for-8) with a double and two walks in eight games before being optioned to Portland on April 18. In parts of three major league seasons with the Padres (2005-07), McAnulty is batting .208 (16-for-77) in 58 games. He is batting .311 with 56 doubles, 27 home runs and 121 RBIs in 196 games over parts of three seasons with Portland (2005-07).

Shabala, 29, was batting .167 with four doubles, two triples, one home run and eight RBIs in 50 games with the Beavers this season.

The Beavers active roster remains at its 24-man limit.
