Tacoma Rainiers News Release
TACOMA, Wash. - The Rainiers came from behind to bounce the Reno Aces 7-4 in the series finale at Cheney Stadium on Monday. Tacoma has now won 12 of their last 13 games, and posted a 7-1 mark over the recent homestand.
Corey Patterson, who was added to the Rainiers roster today from extended spring training, broke open a 3-3 tie with a go-ahead two-run home run in seventh inning. Carlos Peguero added some insurance with another two-run homer in the eighth - his third with Tacoma this season.
The Rainiers trailed by as much as 3-1 before putting together a two-run rally in the bottom of the sixth inning. Stefen Romero plated Nick Franklin with an RBI-single and then scored the tying run on a sacrifice fly hit by Mike Zunino.
Franklin collected two of the Rainiers six hits in the contest and scored three of the club's seven runs. The infielder doubled in the sixth and then added another double in the seventh.
Starter Andrew Carraway (4-1) collected his team-leading fourth win of the season after holding the Aces to three runs on five hits over 7.0 innings. The right-hander walked one and fanned two in the seventh start of his 2013 campaign.
Left-hander Brian Moran allowed one hit and struck out two over a scoreless inning in the eighth and right-hander Danny Farquhar gave up one run on one hit and one walk in the ninth.
The Rainiers (21-11) hit the road tomorrow, May 7, to open an eight-game trip featuring stops at Oklahoma City (May 7-10) and New Orleans (11-14). Reigning PCL Pitcher of the Week Jeremy Bonderman (2-2, 3.57) is slated to start for Tacoma against OKC right-hander Jarred Cosart (3-0, 2.63).
