ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico - Matt Downs doubled and drove in the go ahead run in the top of the eleventh inning to give the Z's a 9-8 win on Monday afternoon at Isotopes Park.
The Isotopes scored four runs in the ninth inning to tie the game at 8. Chris Hatcher touched up for four runs on four hits.
Jordan Smith pitched two innings of relief to earn the win. Anthony Ortega suffered the loss.
New Orleans pounded out a season high 21 hits and left a season high 18 men on base. The Z's were six for 23 in the game with runners in scoring position.
The Zephyrs get a split in the series and improve to 14-15 on the year.
Game Notes - The Zephyrs improve to 3-0 in extra innings. The Zephyrs added outfield Jake Smolinski from Class AA Jacksonville.
Coming Up: The Zephyrs return home on Tuesday to host the Salt Lake Bees at Zephyr Field. The Zephyrs are beginning a eight game homestand. The Z's will start LH Brian Flynn vs. Bees RH AJ Shugel at 7:00. RADIO: WMTI 106.1 FM "The Ticket"
