Wednesday night saw the Pats have a pair of 3 goal leads slip away in Prince Albert, as the Raiders kept their hope alive with a 6-5 win. Jordan Eberle notched the hat trick for the Pats in the loss, while Matt Robertson had 3 assists in his return back to his home town of Prince Albert. Earlier in the night, the Edmonton Oil Kings beat the Kootenay Ice, thus eliminating the Pats from the playoff race.
March 13th, 2009 Regina Pats 3 @ Swift Current Broncos 6
The Pats began a season ending home and home series Friday night in Swift Current, where the Pats found themselves down 3-0 early in the third period, only to get goals from Andrew Reider, Dominick Favreau and Matt Strueby to tie the game at 3. 16 seconds later, Brad Hoban beat 16 year old goaltender Derek Tendler for the 4-3 lead and from there cruised to the 6-3 win. The Pats power play was good again going 2/5, while the Broncos were 2/7.

The final game of the regular season came at the Brandt Centre, where the Broncos and Pats were tied at 1 after the first period. Matt Strueby scored his 25th of the season:32 into the second to take the 2-1 lead, only to see the Broncos Cody Eakin tie it with under a minute left in the period. The Broncos scored twice in the third to cruise to the 4-2 win and finish the Pats season on a low note.

Eberle topping the charts:
Jordan Eberle is currently the Pats active leader in goals with 105 for his Pat career. This puts 4 back of Rhett Gordon (Pats 92-96) on the modern Pats all-time goal list (1966-present). Eberle's 204 points puts him one back of Brent Fedyk (Pats 82-87) and tied with Jim Minor (Pats 71-75).
Ketlo taking the reigns:
Rookie goaltender Damien Ketlo has started 4 of the 7 games the Pats have played in March. He has a 1-and-2 record with a 3.27 GAA and a save percentage of .897.
Tendler gets the nod:
16 year old goaltender Derek Tendler saw his SMAAAHL season end last week at the hands of the Saskatoon Contacts, and he was pushed into action Friday night in place of Damien Ketlo, who was to get the start but was at home with the flu.
A game of firsts:
Dominick Favreau played in 53 games this season without a goal, until Friday night, while on a Pat power play, when he banged in a Jordan Eberle feed to the back of the net for his first goal of the season. Earlier in the 3rd, midget call-up, Andrew Reider, deflected a Matt Delahey point shot for his first career WHL goal.
A Strange First:
Since the Moose Jaw Warriors moved from Winnipeg to the "Friendly City" for the 1984-85 season, this will be the first time that both the Warriors and the Regina Pats have missed the WHL playoffs.
Off to the Pros:
As of Monday, Pats forward Jordan Eberle will be off to the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey league. The 22nd overall pick in the 2008 NHL entry draft by the Edmonton Oilers and will head to their farm team Tuesday morning.
