Regina Pats News Release

Saskatoon, Sask. - The Regina Pats dropped a 6-1 decision to the Saskatoon Blades on Saturday inside the SaskTel Centre.

The Blades carried a 6-0 lead into the third period before Tanner Howe broke the shutout with a goal 20 seconds into the third period. Saskatoon opened the scoring just over two minutes into the game with Tanner Molendyk finding the back of the net.

The Blades then extended their lead to 3-0 after one, as Brandon Lisowsky scored twice. In the second, Saskatoon would add three more, with two of them coming on the power play.

Austin Elliott got the win, allowing one goal on 14 shots. Ewan Huet made the start for Regina, stopping 20 of 23 before being replaced by Kelton Pyne in the second period. Pyne played the final 40 minutes, allowing three goals on 28 shots.

THEY SAID IT

"I'm really disappointed. I didn't think we competed at all until the third period. The biggest thing was that our details and focus of the game was exposed. We need to play detailed hockey and the first three goals we gave up were all because of brain farts and things we showed on video before the game that we didn't pick up on. It was in the back of our net and it's 3-0, and we're chasing the game." - Regina Pats Head Coach Brad Herauf

FINAL: Blades 6, Pats 1

THE GOALS

First Period

1-0 Saskatoon at 2:06 - Tanner Molendyk (2), assisted by William James & Zach Moore // James found a streaking Molendyk in the Pats zone, and he had a step, and went in alone on Huet, sliding the puck through his legs to give the Blades a 1-0 lead early in the game.

2-0 Saskatoon at 12:51 - Brandon Lisowsky (5), assisted by Egor Sidorov // Sidorov skated around untouched in the Pats zone and let a shot go that was stopped by Huet but the puck trickled into the crease and Lisowsky was there to knock it into the Pats net to increase the Blades lead to 2-0.

3-0 Saskatoon at 15:20 - Brandon Lisowsky (6), assisted by Samuel Barcik & Egor Sidorov // Barcik's shot rang off the post right to Lisowsky who knocked it past Huet to extend the lead to 3-0.

Second Period

4-0 Saskatoon at 7:22 - Tyler Parr (1), assisted by Ben Saunderson & Vaughn Watterodt // Parr's shot from the top of the left circle eluded a screened Pyne to extend the Blades lead to 4-0.

5-0 Saskatoon at 14:01 - Jordan Keller (3), assisted by Tyler Parr & Tanner Molendyk (PP) // The Blades worked the puck around the Pats zone and Keller found himself with time and he fired a shot from the left face-off circle past Pyne to extend the Blades lead to 5-0.

6-0 Saskatoon at 17:36 - Lukas Hansen (3), assisted by Charlie Wright & Trevor Wong (PP) // The Blades overwhelmed the Pats on a powerplay, and with Pyne down and out, Hansen found the puck and chipped it past the down-and-out goaltender to make it 6-0 Blades late in the second.

Third Period

6-1 Regina at 20 seconds - Tanner Howe (4), assisted by Tye Spencer // The Pats broke in on a partial two-on-one with Spencer hitting Howe in the slot where he neatly tucked the puck through Elliott's five-hole to get the Pats on the board now down 6-1.
